Candid Foreword
You may be displeased to discover that this book is not about
seafood, but is a literary collage of short stories and articles
that unintentionally describe my life, and intentionally my
knowledge, wisdom, and opinions. Seafood has been acclaimed to
increase one’s intelligence by its consumption. Perhaps so. I know
it had that result with me from time to time, but that’s hardly
proof of the fact so stated. However, if seafood does stimulate the
brain, then in like manner my stories, articles and rhymes do
provide serious, as well as mirthful, food for thought.
I must also confess that the title, “Chicken Soup for the Soul” is
one that had my admiration immediately. It also made me jealous in
that it was not my creation. I never read the book because I knew I
would one day “one-up” the title; ergo, “Seafood for the Brain.”
Call me jealous, but call me not a total copycat. I know a good
thing when I see it.
My political articles and “Vignettes of the great depression” are
astounding, if not mind-boggling. Also, you will be able to identify
with some bits and pieces of each work of fiction or non-fiction, if
not an entire story, verse, or nonsense rhyme.
I promise you this: You will not walk away from this book without
being wiser or, in the least, entertained.
